ALETHEIA BREATHWORK
"There is a way of breathing that is a shame and a suffocation.
And there is another kind of breath.
A Love Breath....
that opens you infinitely.
~ Rumi
And there is another kind of breath.
A Love Breath....
that opens you infinitely.
~ Rumi
What is Aletheia Breathwork?Aletheia Breathwork is an alternative healing modality utilizing
conscious, connected breathing (CCB). The addition of modalities including; music, sound healing, simple accupressure bodywork, affirmations and coaching make this a gentle yet powerful psychotherapeutic healing modality. "Aletheia" is a Greek word, meaning "truth" or "disclosure": “the state of not being hidden; the state of being evident.” |
Changing the way you breathe, changes the way you feel.
Aletheia breathwork can facilitate a deeper uncovering of what may be holding you back, through somatic and emotional release, and over time re-train the body how to breathe the way nature intended - fully & freely.
Conscious connected breathing (CCB) facilitates shifts in our physiology that allow us to explore altered states of consciousness.
CCB allows deep awareness of self, others and nature, providing the groundwork for profound personal development.
As the word "Aletheia" reveals, we aren't creating a better version of ourselves, but releasing what obscures who we really are. Our creativity, energy, and enthusiasm may be subdued as a result of accumulated negative energy and emotion. In our willingness to trust our breath and the life-force energy, there is the potential of release from what no longer serves us.

Benefits of Aletheia Breathwork:

Most of us have breath restrictions that we may or may not be aware of. Most of these restrictive patterns develop in childhood, unconsciously, as a way to help us "get through" difficult of painful situations in our lives, by preventing us from fully feeling the impact of those events.
These coping mechanisms help us in the short term, but they often become habitual and do not serve us in the long term. Restricted, shallow breathing impacts every aspect of our lives, from the way our organs and immune systems function, to our energy level and our mental health.
When we change the way we breathe, we change the way we feel! Often the first stage is to allow the held emotions to surface and be "met", or experienced so that they can finally be processed and integrated. The lovely thing about Breathwork is that the process is somatic (of the body), so there is no need to re-live any past situation. We lean into the body's innate intelligence to allow what arises to be met. Held emotions may release along with attached beliefs and storylines, or may move and resolve as pure sensation (hot/ cold/ tingling/ numbness) or as pure emotion experienced as a simple felt sense.
Aletheia Breathwork also opens up the breath and floods the body with life force energy. This creates physiological changes that can open us to altered states of consciousness. From this expanded state, we gain access to the inner healing intelligence of our body. With practice and familiarity we develop the capacity to surrender to this healing intelligence and the inherent ability of the body/mind to heal itself.
Through this breathing practice, we are allowing our body to do what it needs to do to heal ~ allowing sensations, allowing emotions, images ~ trusting that whatever arises is what is ready to be healed. As we become familiar with the process over the course of a session, and increasingly, through repeated sessions, we are able to relax and trust the process more, releasing deeper emotional and mental beliefs and patterns, and accessing greater expansiveness & joy.
It is my honour and privilege to create a safe, healing space that welcomes you to feel, express yourself, move, tone & release whatever is not serving you, so that you have access to your natural joy & spontaneity.
I see this work as a "reclamation"... a way to find our way back to truly inhabit our breath, our body, and the truth of our beautiful, creative, loving and lovable selves, and of course, this opens us to our interconnectedness with each other & with all of life.

Choosing a group or individual Breathwork session:
Private Breathwork allows for more individualized attention and an opportunity to learn more about your specific breathing patterns. The individual work is ideal in deepening personal awareness, identifying core patterns and anchoring an open, healthy breath in the body over the long term. Ideally, both approaches are used to fully incorporate the power of this amazing tool, which can transform our lives.
Group Breathwork is done in a safe, confidential and intentional environment and utilizes the power of the group to effect deep, personal change. If you are considering joining a group, please be aware that vocalization through toning is encouraged periodically to allow energy to move and release. This can be freeing, as often people feel freer to express and release with others sharing the experience, and it can also be activating or triggering. The encouragement is to use the trigger if it comes up as information and allow the feelings it evokes to be felt and let go.
Creating a safe container is an important part of the experience in both private & group sessions. Group and individual work greatly compliment each other. I encourage you to engage in both if possible.
Feel free to contact Cedar if you have any questions, or would like to talk about which type of session is best for you.
